dive on the bow detached due to the explosion.
Details:
On August 2nd1943 the loaded steamboat was travelling from Arbatax in direction of Cagliari. The load must have been very important, considering that it was escorted by 6 smaller ships to protect it from submarines and
airstrikes. At 8:00am the steamboat went on a mine, which had recently been installed as a defence line and the steamboat hadn’t been informed of. In the explosion, the bow was separated and sank first, the ship was then able to navigate a further 800m before sinking as
well. Due to the division during the sinking of the ship, it allows to carry out two different dives. The larger part and for us more attractive is the stern side. Considering the position
of the wreck in open sea it also allows meeting with fish of larger dimensions. The wreck is in upright position on the sand. On the deck after having passed the superstructure, you
arrive at the stern. After a further descent of almost 10m, you will be in front of a huge propeller. Every single rotor is larger than a diver an the helm is 5-6 m high. A show to
itself is the immense carpet of snake stars which surround the hole wreck, for our enjoyment they move quite faster than the others starfish. A dive here is always satisfying.
